Description

Letter to the "Oxfordshire Sporting Herald" newspaper, October 27th 1973.

"I read Stella Henderson's letter ['Oxfordshire Sporting Herald', October 20th 1973] with interest, especially as it alluded to the then-Tickle Wrestling World Champion Felicity Somerset's 1970 bikini contest against the USA No. 1 contender Miriam van Kewley.

I travelled to Illinois for this bout, and it was worth every penny/cent I paid to witness what an absolute Tickle Wrestling genius Felicity was.

Much of Miriam's success was down to her very strong hands, useful for holding her opponents down and inflicting marathon tickling sessions on them. The van Kewley camp had decided that if she kept Felicity's own hands in her iron grip it would nullify the British woman's Tickle Wrestling skill.

However, this plan went awry. Felicity, finding her hands largely immobilised, tickled Miriam with her bare feet instead. The American ended up howling with helpless laughter as Felicity's soft bare toes wandered around her body, searching out her most sensitive parts and tickling them intensely.

Stella was correct to imply in her letter that Felicity won this bout easily. As is widely known, she beat the USA National Tickle Wrestling Champion Aimee Buree of Southern California three months later - one of four US title holders over whom she achieved victory in her unbeaten career.

What a woman. There will never be a Tickle Wrestler as good as Oxfordshire's own Felicity Somerset.

Olivia Garretson,
