"In a repeat of a bikini bout that took place almost exactly one year earlier at the same Frodsham venue, Adele Carson (Eastham) repeated her win over Carina Johns of Helsby, although this time by the narrower margin of two submissions to one on Christmas Eve.
Carson went in front after pushing Johns down on her knees by her shoulders, reaching down behind her back and tickling the soles of her bare feet. Johns shook her head uselessly as she laughed her way to her inevitable submission.
However, the Helsby girl soon equalised, demonstrating impressive strength when twisting Carson into a Boston Crab [see photo above] before tickling the sole of her left foot with her right hand and vice-versa.
Carson seemed shaken but rapidly recovered. A simple trip sent Johns tumbling face-down on to the floor. The Eastham woman took the opportunity to sit on the backs of her opponent's calves and tickle her upward-facing bare feet.
The laughing Johns screwed up her bare toes and tried desperately to pull her trapped legs out of the hold, but was reduced to frantically waving her arms around and banging her fists on the mat in frustration. Eventually she could take the tickling no longer and was forced to submit.
There was some amazement amongst the audience regarding the physique of bikini-clad referee Kay Waddell, the 1980s Tickle Wrestler who at once stage was No. 10 contender in the North-West Tickle Wrestling Area. 'I knew Kay from my own Tickle Wrestling days,' explained Alison Carson, assistant trainer and aunt of Adele Carson. 'We had two bouts against each other and she won them both. She contacted me asking whether I could arrange for her to officiate at a bout in the North West around Christmas this year, so I got in touch with Carina's people and the North West Tickle Wrestling authorities and put Kay's name forward as a referee for this match. She's been fitness training recently down at Debbie Brighton's Tickle Wrestling Centre in Hampshire.'
'Kay would be the first to admit that she was never the prettiest tickle wrestler in the North West, but, hey, isn't she in good shape? She hasn't Tickle Wrestled for more than fifteen years, but she looked as though she could have stepped into the ring for a bout tonight.'"
